The scheme is divided into two parts:

Vulnerable Bursary 

The amount of money and/or equipment provided may vary depending on the number of applicants and the money available in the fund in any academic year. It will be awarded to:

• Young people aged 16, 17 and 18 entitled to Free School Meals (applicants can apply/check online at https://www.cloudforedu.org.uk/ofsm/link2ict/)

• Young people aged 16 and 17 in care

• Care leavers aged 16, 17 and 18

• Young people aged 16, 17 and 18 who are in receipt of income support (for example, young people who are living independently of their parents; those whose parents have died and teenage parents)

• Disabled young people in receipt of Employment Support Allowance who are also in receipt of Disability Living Allowance 

Discretionary Bursary 

This discretionary bursary is available to Turner Sixth Form students not eligible for the vulnerable bursary who live in a household with a low family income. The amount awarded may vary depending on the number of applicants and the money available in the fund in any academic year.

All discretionary bursary payments will be directly linked to attendance, behaviour and performance. A bursary can be withdrawn at any time during the year if the student’s attendance, behaviour or performance is not at an acceptable level.

Who is eligible to apply? A student must be aged 16 or over but under 19 on 31 August 2024 to be eligible for help from the bursary fund in the 2024 to 2025 academic year and enrolled on a full-time course at the school.
